John leads the intercomparison and accuracy assessment between OpenET satellite-based ET and ground-based measurements. Since 2018 he has developed and maintained a benchmark ET dataset primarily from eddy covariance flux towers across the U.S for the OpenET intercomparison. He has led in the development of methods and software for bias-correction of gridded reference ET datasets used by OpenET satellite-based models, development of flux footprints for model ET sampling, and statistical and graphical methods for the intercomparison and accuracy assessment of OpenET. John has an interest and background in open-source scientific software development and hydrologic sciences.
